For many students a typical school day begins and ends with a bus ride to school. We realize that student success is inherantly dependant upon the way our students start their school day. Many of them start their day at the bus-stop.
A typical school day will find our certified bus driver arriving at the transportation barn very early in the morning. Their fist job of the day is to inspect the bus they will be driving. Their pre-trip inspection takes them in and around the bus checking vehicle safety equipment then under the hood to make sure there are adequate fluid levels and no leaks. The goal is to make sure the bus is safe and dependable. Once these inspections are completed the busses are ready for their days journey. You may be surprised to know that our 12 routes cover over 800 miles each day and along these routes there are over 750 eligible riders. To accomplish this service Alma Public Schools employs 12 drivers with 3 sub-drivers in standby.
