At Alma Public Schools, we are proud of the artistic and creative endeavors of our students. Our newly renovated 538 seat auditorium provides a venue for high quality performances in the arts.
Students have opportunities to explore the vocal, instrumental, visual and performing arts throughout grades K-12. Art education is a part of each student's coursework in preschool through fifth grade. Students experience one lesson a week in both art and music class with a certified instructor. The early art experience emphasizes the process of creating art by manipulating a variety of media. In music class, students learn to participate and enjoy music. Students perform on the district's high school auditorium stage several times during their elementary years. Music lessons also prepare students with an understanding of basic music composition in preparation for later years of advanced instrumental and vocal music participation.
Beginning in 6th grade, art, choir and band are offered as elective courses to all students. Band and choir students prepare for concerts and perform several times a year.
Our high school Music department is lead by Amanda Salisbury, Tim Newman, and Patrick DeWitt. Their students perform at a high level of expertise. The Music Boosters offers an excellent opportunity for parents to support the musical interests of our students.
