We are committed to providing each student with the best educational experience possible. All of our academic outcomes are directly related to the Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs), written by Michigan Department of Education (MDE), as well as the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
Common Core State Standards
In June 2010, the Michigan State Board of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as the state standards for mathematics and English Language Arts. In September of 2011, Alma Schools began the work of aligning our curriculum to the CCSS. Our 2011-2012 Kindergarten students will be the first group to take the new state assessments, based on the CCSS, when they are 3rd graders. For this reason, it is imperative that our outcomes are aligned to both the GLCEs and the CCSS. If you are interested in learning more about the new CCSS, and how they align with the GLCEs, the Crosswalk Documents below will be a great resource.
Our Young Five, Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms use the MDE approved Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to assure we are meeting the instructional needs of all students in our care. You can read more about the GLCEs and the CCSS in the documents below.
Our Great Start School Readiness Preschool (GSRP) uses a MDE approved curriculum called Creative Curriculum. To learn more about this curriculum, check out the documents below.
