Learning how to use sensory words to describe unknown items creates some funny faces and memorable moments in 4th grade! This creative science lesson also provided opportunities for our scholars to use senses other than vision to determine unknown objects. 😊

Mrs. Oswald and Mrs. Engel’s classes were certainly provided a perfect fall day today to enjoy their time at Anderson & Girls! 🍎

This week's APS Staff Spotlight is on 5th grade teacher, Mr. Mark Kemler! Mr. Kemler has been with APS for 10 years and also serves as our "go-to" building technology support guru. The best part of his job is definitely being able to provide students the opportunity and space to be creative. When thinking of the best quote or piece of advice he's been given, it's "Do something fun with your students each day." Outside of school, Mr. Kemler enjoys horse riding and training. Thank you, Mr. Kemler, for all you do at Pine Avenue!

The October 18-29th lunch menu is here! Thank you Ms. Grace & the food services team for all you do!

🚀🚀 5th graders in Mrs. Engel and Mrs. Oswald’s classrooms are putting their engineering skills to use today! They constructed paper towers to withstand “hurricane force winds.” After testing, they could reconstruct and retest. Science is so fun! 😎

Tonight, we get to listen to the final chapter of Zoey & Sassafras. We have loved sharing this book with our Pine Avenue families and hope your family has enjoyed reading with us.

This performance will be streamed at the High School Auditorium on October 21st at 7:15 – we’ll have some folks from Alma College explaining the project and providing some brochures on the history of the Opera House. This would be an interesting event for parents to bring their students who are studying Michigan History. If you have any questions, please contact Sheryle Dixon at sddixon@alma.edu or (989) 463-7967.

This morning, students in Mrs. Fornusek’s class played a math facts race game. It was a close match and came down to the final round. So much fun!

Thank you to all who attended conferences. We appreciate the time families took out of their day to discuss their student(s).
Here's this week's Pine Press. As a reminder, this was the last week a paper copy will be sent home. Pine Press will be emailed to families, as well as posted to Facebook and the APS app.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!
Our school wide Title 1 program allows our students to receive supplemental instruction for students as they demonstrate need. Mrs. Case and Mrs. Hohlbein provide small group instruction in Math and Reading. These ladies also guide and train our instructional paraprofessional staff to provide supplemental support in the classroom.
