Hillcrest had a VERY special guest reader today, as Alma Superintendent, Mrs. Stacey Criner, came and read to classes throughout the building!
Students in second grade are learning about their communities in Social Studies and are designing and building different locations in the community and careers that go with them.
Second graders had the opportunity to learn about bees and pollination from members of the Alma High School FFA program!
We look forward to seeing all our elementary Panthers at our K-5 Family Engagement Night tonight. Anderson and Girls will be here with miniature and baby animals, a Science and Magic show from Mobile Ed, PBS Kids with fun family activities, and more. Family raffle baskets will be awarded to our lucky winners. See you at 5:00 p.m.!
First graders were able to travel to Midland Center for the Arts today to see Rosie Revere! What a neat experience for our kiddos!!
Save the date! Our PTO and Elementary Art Teacher, Ms. Hahn, are putting on an Arts Night in April! If your child is interested in showing off their talents, make sure to sign up using the QR code. Artwork from all students will be on display that night as well.

We love the warmer weather, but we all know the weather changes quickly in Michigan. We use these temperatures to determine what students can wear outside at recess. It is always a good idea for students to leave a jacket/sweatshirt in their locker and to dress in layers.
3rd grade students learning about different types of angles! This geometry skill is something they will use all the way up through high school.
Alma High School students visited Hillcrest today to read to some their favorite kids' books! Our students LOVED listening to them read!

Mya joins Alma Public Schools as the Hillcrest Elementary School Counselor. She previously worked at Gratiot Integrated for several years and is a Licensed Master of Social Work. Mya enjoys spending time outdoors and camping with her husband, two children, and two dogs. She has many hobbies including reading and creating stained glass pieces. She is most excited to work alongside students and their families to help support them in feeling safe and successful in the school environment.
2nd graders had their RESD nutrition lessons this week and the focus is on fruits and vegetables. They even were able to taste some!

We are so lucky to have a great partnership with Alma College. Today, our 2nd grade students were able to attend a "Science Blowout" on campus put on by Alma College Students! What a great experience for our students!!
