We love our partnerships with Alma College! Today, students in the Teacher Education Program came and read to a couple of our classrooms!!
Reminder that Alma Public Schools does not have school on Tuesday, November 1st. Teachers will have a day of learning.
We all know that Halloween is something that many of our students look forward to, and we are so excited to be able to celebrate this year! Please see the information below regarding costumes, parties, and our parade.
Here are a few guidelines to consider.
-Classes will have Halloween activities in their classrooms on Monday, October 31st
-Teachers will be sending out information about their classroom activities.
-Costumes will be allowed, but teachers will provide more information about what times they will be wearing them in their classrooms.
Guidelines for Costumes:
-Students are prohibited from wearing/using face paint, blood, gore, or weapons and costumes must be school appropriate. Students are not allowed to wear masks in the building, but will be able to during the parade outdoors.
2. Students must be able to put on their costume without assistance.
-Parents are not permitted to help with costumes, parties, or bring food/snacks to the building throughout the day.
3. If sending snacks, please consider healthy options (such as pretzels, popcorn, fruit snacks, fruit, cheese sticks, etc.)
Parade (WEATHER PERMITTING):
-We will have a building wide parade on Monday at 2pm. Please see the route below. We are working with Alma PD to help block the roads to help make this as safe as possible.
-We will do a Facebook Live video as well for parents that are not able to attend.
For specific questions about your child's class, please make sure to contact the teacher.
What a great way to start the morning! Many of our teachers do a greeting with each student as they enter the room to get the day off to a great start!

In our Bookworms ELA curriculum, students practice writing skills daily and is typically connected to Science or Social Studies concepts.
The M in STEM stands for mathematics! This STEM class the students are doing all different type of hands on math games!
We are so excited for our new island themed sensory walk around the building with physical activities for our students to do!
This morning we had our first practice ALICE drill of the year. The students did an incredible job barricading in their location. Before, we all read the book, “I am Not Scared, I am Prepared” so the students remember they have many options to keep them safe.
We are so excited for the PTO Donuts With Grown Ups at Hillcrest tomorrow! Doors will open at 7 am. Please watch the video for more information about parking. A reminder that you must be signed up to attend and we are full at this time.

Students LOVE seeing the first snow of the year!!!!
Session #1 of "Parenting the Love and Logic Way" was very informative, as we discussed strategies to use at home when our children argue or persistently plead for things.
We will be hosting 3 more sessions throughout the year, to continue building strategies to use at home. These workshops are open to all K-5 parents, 5:30-7:00pm, at Luce Road ECLC.
