Our middle school students enjoyed their Tri 1 Celebration today!!

Our Health 6 students concluded their lesson on the effects of nicotine by completing a project that answered the essential question "Can I explain the correlation between the cost of cigarettes and the number of smokers in a population?" Based on the price of a pack of cigarettes by state, the students worked in pairs to calculate how much a person might spend in a year. They then compared that figure to data showing percentages of smokers by state. Students concluded the cost of a pack of cigarettes has a direct correlation and can be a positive deterrent in the decision to smoke.
