She is always following her ROARS, is respectful, kind, and willing to help with anything that needs to be done. I often catch Liara helping other students without being asked. She sees a need and fills it! I am SO proud of you Liara! Thank you for being such a wonderful example to others and for being a true All-Star! I will miss your big smile and hugs every day. Keep up the great work Liara! Elsea-Serenity Rojas Serenity is a very kind and caring person! She is always sitting quietly during our whole group learning time and does her best work on all assignments. Thank you, Serenity for being a great friend and role model in so many ways to all of your classmates. You are truly an All-Star! Gage-Maliya Wischmeyer Maliya is an extremely hard-working and kind student. She brings a good attitude with her to school every day. She is trustworthy, friendly, and always knows how to cheer somebody up. Maliya does an excellent job of displaying our ROARs here at Hillcrest. Great job Maliya! Guild-Hubbard-August McCarty-Cervantes August is an extremely hard-working and respectful student. He is always willing to participate in class and is always respectful to the teacher and his classmates. August takes pride in his work and always strives to do his absolute best and settles for nothing less. His handwriting is always neat and readable. His attitude is always positive. And he is very helpful. 2nd grade will be lucky to have you August. Lambert-EverLee Palmer EverLee has been working very hard all school year. She comes to school every day so excited to learn. She is a great team player and willing to help everyone around her. She gives 100% effort into everything she does. She is a great role model for the rest of the class. Keep up the great work EverLee! Langworthy-A.J. Umbarger A.J. is a kind & caring boy. He strives to follow his ROARS on a daily basis. He is hardworking & always engaged when learning. He is always engaged and willing to participate in class & answer questions. He strives to always work to the best of his ability. We are very thankful to have you in our classroom family, A.J. Keep up all the hard work. Lyon-Remington Hall 2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate!?! Remington, Remington, yay Remington! Remington is a great teammate who is one of the first to help with any task. He often demonstrates his ROARS in all phases of the game. Remington is responsible with his learning and takes it seriously. Remington enjoys discussing the books we are reading and demonstrates safety in the classroom. I appreciate Remington's effort, determination, and willingness to help! Thank you for being a splendid teammate Remington! Lyon-Otto Dow Otto has been working hard this year. He remembers to follow his ROARS and sets a good example for others. I look forward to hearing Otto share his knowledge every day. Thanks for being a great teammate, Otto!

Fun Run Rescheduled Date for Hillcrest- The Fun Run for Hillcrest will be on Thursday, May 23rd. Each grade will run around the east parking lot for a 30-minute time slot. Parents and families are welcomed to attend.

Due to the predicted rain for today, the Alma Elementary PTO Fun Run at Alma College has been canceled. We know this is disappointing as we have already raised over $50,000 for the event! Each building will schedule a Fun Run date at their own building and we will communicate that soon. Thank you for your understanding.

Every day, in every class, students participate in partner reading. This builds reading fluency while also working on interpersonal skills and building relationships.

3rd graders had the pleasure of listening local author Linda Hoffman and her stories about haiku poems.

The Alma High School Student Council came and visited the Hillcrest Student Council today and did some different activities with them! It is great for our students to see them as role models!

Hillcrest Student Council helped to clean up trash and litter around the school grounds today! Thank you for helping to make our building look great!

Today, Hillcrest participated in an ALICE drill where we practiced evacuating by going out of the window. Students did a great job during the drill. We hate to have to practice these things, but very important to know what to do in a real situation
