We are so lucky to have a great partnership with Alma College. Today, our 2nd grade students were able to attend a "Science Blowout" on campus put on by Alma College Students! What a great experience for our students!!

Hillcrest Student Council served our students hot chocolate at lunch today! A HUGE thanks to Petticoat Junction for donation! It made a lot of smiles!!

He is eager to accept a challenge and leads our class vocally throughout the day with encouraging words and cheers. Nolan looks out for his peers and is a strong teammate! Thanks for being such a fantastic leader in our classroom, Nolan! DeJong Savannah Ash Savannah is our All-Star for February! Savannah is a hard worker and always follows her ROARS. She sets a great example in the classroom by following directions, listening, and being respectful to others. Savannah is kind and a leader in our classroom. I can always count on her to be a great participant in class and to be a helping hand to those around her. Keep up the all-star work, Savannah! Faustmann/Brake Clara Soto-Perez Clara is a quiet and gentle young soul. She is not a quitter and works hard in whatever the task might be. Clara is always following her ROARS and she can be counted on to do what is right. Her peers respect her, and she always shows respect and kindness to them in return. I am so very proud of this young lady. In addition, I am confident that Clara will achieve great things in her lifetime. Greiner Ayla Witzel I am proud to announce Ayla as our February All-Star! Since the beginning of the year, Ayla has continued to follow her ROARS. Ayla has done a fantastic job since the start of the year of working hard in participating and helping others. This hard work has made her a leader and role model among her peers inside and outside of our classroom. Fantastic job Ayla, keep working hard and being the All-Star that you are! Lamphere Greyson Evitts Greyson is our star student for February! Greyson is a hard-working student who treats everyone with respect. He is always up for a challenge and puts his all into his work. Keep up the hard work, Greyson! Greiner Grant Jewell Grant is a true All-Star. He always participates in our group. He works on hard on completing his Bookworms work. He does a wonderful job following his ROARS. Grant truly is a leader and an All-STAR! DeJong Scarlett Helcher-Dorony Scarlett always has a smile on her face and is like a ray of sunshine at school! She is always willing to lend a hand and sets a fine example for her peers. I appreciate Scarlett's attitude towards learning and her cheerful disposition! Music Zachary Sommerville (DeJong) The student of the month for Music is Zachary Sommerville. Zach always comes to music ready to learn and try new things. He is always ready to volunteer and share great thoughts and ideas during our class. Zach is always doing the right thing and treating his classmates with kindness. He is a great leader and role model for his peers. Thank you for all of your great work, Zach! PE Zak Ogle (Faustmann/Brake) The PE student of the month goes to Zak! Zak works hard and pushes himself when a difficult task is in front of him. He is kind to his classmates and leads by example. I can count on Zak during PE. Zak is going to do great things with his determination and work ethic. Awesome job, Zak! Art Savannah Ash (DeJong) I am happy to announce that the Art student of the month goes to Savannah. Savannah is always aiming for her best and excelling within the arts. She always has a positive attitude and lends a helping hand to classmates. You are an amazing artist, leader, and All-Star! Keep up the amazing work, Lachlan! Pineiro Maximus Blanton Maximus is a great student! Even when he gets stuck on something, he tries his best! He is very kind and is so much fun to have in class. Max is responsible and very hard-working. I am so proud of him and how much he has grown! Rogers Cylus Brown Cylus is a great student. He tries his best, and when he doesn't get it on the first try he doesn't give up and keeps trying. He is a good friend to everyone and you can always find him helping others. Cy is a very respectful student and accepts correction well. We are so glad he is in our class and I am very proud of what he has accomplished so far this year! Great job Cy! Trefil Brayton Baleja-Krieg Brayton has worked hard all year long to earn the title of Star Student. He is a wonderful role model for his peers by helping others, following his ROARS, staying focused and always doing his best work. Brayton takes on every challenge given to him and does it with a smile! We're so lucky to get to learn from Brayton. Keep up the great work, buddy! Peitsch Carter Near Carter is a rockstar in class. I can always count on him to be doing his job and participating in all class discussions. Carter is one to never give up, he will ask for help and questions to better his understanding. Keep up the great work! We are proud of you! Wolfe Ella Mero Ella is an excellent student to have in class. You can always count on Ella to share beautiful stories about her family and friends. Lambert/Jonaitis Elodee Dailey Elodee always brings a positive attitude to class. She is always smiling and can brighten up anyone's day. She works hard to get her work done every day. Langworthy Landry Christian Landry always has a positive attitude and smile on his face. He is always helping others, no matter what. He will stop what he is doing, to make others feel noticed & seen when they are struggling. He LOVES learning and always tries his best. Landry sets a great example to all following his ROARS! We are lucky to have him in our classroom family! Lyon Rosemary Chinn Rose is such a joy to be around! She is always happy and excited to be at school. Rose does well showing her ROARS every day. You can always find her being respectful, acting responsibly, and being safe. The team appreciates her enthusiasm for learning and for helping others. We are grateful to see her smiling face and to hear her cheery laugh every day! Thank you for being a positive for our team Rose, we appreciate you! Lyon Rolland VanHorn Roland is very good about coming into class and reminding others of their roars and expectations in the classroom. Roland has shown empathy to other students when they needed help or support and has offered to even help. Roland helped to clean the classroom and make sure that it was back in order. These are showing me signs that Roland can be a leader and show others how to use their ROARS!

Today, we completed our required Tornado Drill in March. Students did a great job reacting quickly to the announcement and following their safety procedures.

March is Reading Month means lot of guest readers at Hillcrest!! Today, we were thankful to have guests from Gratiot-Isabella RESD share stories with our students!

An end of a month means...Birthday Book Club! Every student that had a birthday in February was able to pick out a book thanks to the PTO!!
