Last night at the regular Board of Education meeting, a decision was made to offer two childcare (age 3 & 4) classrooms and one preschool classroom housed at Luce Road Early Childhood Learning Center beginning the 2023-2024 school year. It was important to share this communication today, and you can expect to hear more about this exciting change in the coming weeks and months.

Our Staff Spotlight for the week shines on Mr. Chris Brown! Mr. Brown is the Art Teacher at Alma High School. This year is Mr. Brown’s 22nd year teaching and 26th year coaching. When asked, Mr. Brown shared that the best part of teaching and coaching are the relationships you build, and that there are few better feelings as a mentor than when you are able to view a student or athlete experiencing success through their own hard work.
In his spare time Mr. Brown loves to hang out with his wife Kendra, and their two kids, Kennedy and Cason. Mr. Brown’s family enjoys golfing, attending sporting events, and going for bike rides. Personally, Mr. Brown enjoys drawing in his free time and bonfires with friends. He is involved in his church and serves on the Alma Schools Athletic Hall of Fame Board of Directors.

Dear APS Community,
As you may have likely heard, several Michigan school districts have received phone calls today with false reports of active shooters. At this time, the Michigan State Police are not aware of any specific or credible threat to any K-12 educational facility in Michigan. Alma Public Schools has not received one of those calls, but we wanted to be sure you are aware of what is happening in our state. Any threat of violence will be taken seriously. We are fortunate to have a close relationship with local law enforcement. The Alma Police Department is monitoring the situation.
