🎶 One minute it was a normal Wednesday... then Cotton-Eyed Joe hit the speakers and the 8th grade dance party was ON! 💃🕺

Even better? Their former principal made a surprise visit and jumped right in! 👏

Seventh graders in Mrs. Kane's class became scientists and engineers last week-- with LEGOS! 🧱
Students worked together to build creative Lego structures, then had to write out the procedure for how they built it. The twist? They swapped instructions with another group and tried to rebuild the same design.

The challenge showed just how tricky it can be to write clear, detailed procedures—and why they matter so much in science experiments. 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

Collaboration, problem-solving, and a whole lot of laughter made this lab a success!

The 6th graders had a special opportunity to hear from a Michigan State Trooper who visited our school to share an important message about the power of making good decisions. The presentation focused on what can happen when people try to complete tasks while impaired—whether by alcohol, drugs, or even distractions—and how those choices can impact not only themselves, but others around them.

The Trooper gave real-world examples that helped students understand how one poor decision can lead to serious consequences. Students were able to experience how impairment affects reaction times and judgment, making it clear why safety and responsibility matter.

After the presentation, students participated in a Q&A session, asking thoughtful questions about what it’s like to work in law enforcement. They learned about the challenges and rewards of serving the community as a Michigan State Trooper, as well as the importance of trust, safety, and responsibility in the role.

We are grateful to Trooper Travis Rogers for taking the time to meet with our students and help them see how good decision-making today builds a safer future tomorrow.🐾🚨🚔
