On Monday, October 28th, the Cross Country program will host a Festival of Races for our elementary kids! This race is 1 mile in length and is free of charge. We would love to have any and all elementary kids who have an interest in running or who would like to learn more about Cross Country join us! At 5:00 our varsity athletes will lead the elementary athletes through an optional short warm-up and a series of stretches. The first race will start at 5:30. How many races we have will depend on how many people register. We would like to have a race for each grade! The starting line will be right behind the bleachers of the Track and Field Stadium. The course will be marked, and middle school and HS athletes will be helping. Please let me know if you have any questions by posting them in the comments. Thank you!

During our Differentiated Instruction (DI) block, students work in small groups and focus on reading skills they need and also are able to work on their workbook response from their Shared Reading time.

Over the last few weeks, we have been collecting items for hurricane relief in the south. Phoenix Leonard, a 2nd grader, and her family took the items down to North Carolina this past weekend and delivered all of the items. A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the beautiful weather! We had an AMAZING learning week!

What a GREAT event this morning with Donuts with Grownups! We had over 100 students and 300 people total participate! A HUGE thanks to our PTO for putting on this event!

Tomorrow is Donuts with Grown-Ups for 2nd and 3rd graders only. We are excited with over 110 students signed up!
A few reminders:
-The front doors will be the only ones open and they will open at 7 am.
-The donuts will be in the gym
-Parking will be challenging. Please only park in designated parking spots and do not park in the alleyway as busses will be dropping off students.
-We will have MANY people in the gym with limited seating, so we do ask when you are done, that you exit so others can sit.
-Parents can leave when they are done, but students will need to stay in the gym until 7:35 am. At 7:35, students that are done will go out to the playground with all of the other students.
-We will ask all parents to leave at 7:45 am as all students will be entering the school and we will need to clean up the gym for the start of the day.
-We ask that parents and students not walk around the hallways in the morning as teachers will be getting ready for the day.
We are so excited to see everyone in the morning!

A huge thank you to all of those that donated to the hurricane relief in the south. Student Phoenix Leonard and her parents, Autumn and JD, are driving to deliver the items today! Every little bit helps and we appreciate their service to support those in need!

Today, Hillcrest had our first ALICE of the year. Classes read this book first and then practiced barricading in their room. Although we hope we never had to deal with a real situation, it is important for us to practice and be prepared.
