We love the warmer weather, but we all know the weather changes quickly in Michigan. We use these temperatures to determine what students can wear outside at recess. It is always a good idea for students to leave a jacket/sweatshirt in their locker and to dress in layers.

Please join us in welcoming our new K-5 counselor, Mya Ward! Mya joins Alma Public Schools as the Hillcrest Elementary School Counselor. She previously worked at Gratiot Integrated for several years and is a Licensed Master of Social Work. Mya enjoys spending time outdoors and camping with her husband, two children, and two dogs. She has many hobbies including reading and creating stained glass pieces. She is most excited to work alongside students and their families to help support them in feeling safe and successful in the school environment.

He is eager to accept a challenge and leads our class vocally throughout the day with encouraging words and cheers. Nolan looks out for his peers and is a strong teammate! Thanks for being such a fantastic leader in our classroom, Nolan! DeJong Savannah Ash Savannah is our All-Star for February! Savannah is a hard worker and always follows her ROARS. She sets a great example in the classroom by following directions, listening, and being respectful to others. Savannah is kind and a leader in our classroom. I can always count on her to be a great participant in class and to be a helping hand to those around her. Keep up the all-star work, Savannah! Faustmann/Brake Clara Soto-Perez Clara is a quiet and gentle young soul. She is not a quitter and works hard in whatever the task might be. Clara is always following her ROARS and she can be counted on to do what is right. Her peers respect her, and she always shows respect and kindness to them in return. I am so very proud of this young lady. In addition, I am confident that Clara will achieve great things in her lifetime. Greiner Ayla Witzel I am proud to announce Ayla as our February All-Star! Since the beginning of the year, Ayla has continued to follow her ROARS. Ayla has done a fantastic job since the start of the year of working hard in participating and helping others. This hard work has made her a leader and role model among her peers inside and outside of our classroom. Fantastic job Ayla, keep working hard and being the All-Star that you are! Lamphere Greyson Evitts Greyson is our star student for February! Greyson is a hard-working student who treats everyone with respect. He is always up for a challenge and puts his all into his work. Keep up the hard work, Greyson! Greiner Grant Jewell Grant is a true All-Star. He always participates in our group. He works on hard on completing his Bookworms work. He does a wonderful job following his ROARS. Grant truly is a leader and an All-STAR! DeJong Scarlett Helcher-Dorony Scarlett always has a smile on her face and is like a ray of sunshine at school! She is always willing to lend a hand and sets a fine example for her peers. I appreciate Scarlett's attitude towards learning and her cheerful disposition! Music Zachary Sommerville (DeJong) The student of the month for Music is Zachary Sommerville. Zach always comes to music ready to learn and try new things. He is always ready to volunteer and share great thoughts and ideas during our class. Zach is always doing the right thing and treating his classmates with kindness. He is a great leader and role model for his peers. Thank you for all of your great work, Zach! PE Zak Ogle (Faustmann/Brake) The PE student of the month goes to Zak! Zak works hard and pushes himself when a difficult task is in front of him. He is kind to his classmates and leads by example. I can count on Zak during PE.
