Thank you to everyone that came out to Hillcrest last night for Parent Connection Night! It was so neat seeing the students give their parents tours of the school and showing them around their classrooms!!

Having building autonomy to define and target building needs and tackle them through specifically designed evenings has created difficult messaging across the district. I apologize for that. In addition, future PTC communication will also come home in a printed form, as I have heard that it may have been missed digitally.
I would like to clarify. Parent Teacher Connection evenings are not meant to exclude anyone. The focus is on how we can encourage parents to come into the buildings to see their child’s teacher(s), class work, and extra-curricular opportunities. Instead of focusing on one parent-teacher conversation, we hope to build a relationship through connection events so that many parent-teacher conversations can occur throughout the year through phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings. The ultimate goal is to open opportunities, not close them.
We have three (3) Parent Teacher Connection Nights on our school calendar this year. (October 13, 2023, January 12, 2023, and April 12, 2024) It is new, and I expect will only get better as we move forward. Look at tonight as a chance to participate in the school community and become partners with Alma Public Schools as we embrace the possibilities.
Sincerely,
Stacey Criner
