AHS Staff Spotlight- Mrs. Kendra Brown

Mrs. Brown is  a RN/ CTE Health Occupations Lab and Clinical Instructor in our health occupations CTE classes.  She is responsible for lab instruction and for taking students offsite for clinical instruction.  Mrs Brown in in her 3rd year at Alma High School.

She describes the best part of her job is seeing the transformation of the first year CNA students when they move from the classroom setting to the "real life" nursing home setting.  She enjoys seeing the "light bulb" go off for the 2nd year Health Careers students when they can critically think during their assessment, know how they fix/change a problem and use a differential diagnosis during their simulations that are given in class.  Mrs. Brown also finds joy in the progress of our Pharmacy Technician students when they master certain levels of the program.

When not in her lab coat, Mrs. Brown enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids. You are likely to to see them at many APS sporting events, choir or band concerts, drama productions and many more!  She and her family enjoy traveling the state of Michigan during the summer.

One thing that not many people know about Mrs. Brown is that she traveled to Africa for 3 weeks in 2010 as a multidisciplinary healthcare team to improve the health of those in the country of Zambia.  Mrs. Brown says the best piece of advice she has been given is, "Be thankful and blessed everyday".
