Today was all about S'mores!

We had fun doing an s'more assembly relay race, melt vs not melt trivia, worked as a group to tell how to make a s'more, and painted with marshmallows!

As a bonus, with the weather being so nice, we spent extra time outside doing sidewalk chalk and eating our snack.

A special thank you to Miss Tristen for bringing in brownie s'mores bars for an extra special treat!

Hillcrest readers participated in a school-wide vocabulary parade today to celebrate March is Reading Month! Each student chose a vocabulary word to display and how they wanted to represent that word. We all enjoyed learning some new words! Ask your student what word stuck out to them today.

If you have not completed the MiStudent Voice Parent Perception Survey, you still have time!

All staff and parents can fill out the survey, and students in 5-12th grade have completed it.
The MI Student Voice Perception Survey helps schools better understand students’ experiences in school. The survey asks students and parents about their sense of engagement, belonging, and social-emotional learning so their voices can help guide school and district improvement efforts. This feedback provides a broader picture of school quality and helps inform decisions about instruction, supports, and school environments beyond academic test scores.

The Parent Survey is still open until Friday, 3/27.

March is Reading Month! APS Public Safety Criminal Justice students have been reading true crime books for a class project. They are learning to analyze police tactics in crime scene investigations and questioning. They are also studying the working of the court and corrections systems. On Friday, our CTE Health Science students participated in Join Hands Day! They spent their class time cutting out fabric to be used for assistive devices for patients in hospice and nursing homes. They worked diligently, making neck pillows, clothing coverings and other items. We are impressed with our students’ hard work – but we’re most proud of their kindness and compassion.

Check out this video on our YouTube to see these amazing CTE Health Science students – and don’t forget to give it a “Like” and subscribe to the channel, so you can stay up to date on all things APS!
