🌟🎶Let's hear from APS band director Tim Newman!
"Zachary Thelen, a 2026 Alma High School senior, will be marching with the prestigious Michigan State University Drumline this coming fall. The MSU Drumline is one of the premier collegiate drumlines in the country and performs as part of the Spartan Marching Band and also performs as an individual unit. The MSU drumline, under the direction of John Webber, is made up of students from across the country. Zach completed a rigorous, highly competitive audition process to become a member of the tenor drum section. Earning a spot on the MSU Drumline is a comparable accomplishment to a student-athlete earning a spot on a Division 1 athletic team."
"To prepare for the audition, Zach took private lessons from a past section leader of the MSU drumline, attended regular drumline sessions in East Lansing, participated in the MSU Drumline Summer Camp the past several years, and of course rigorously practiced. Zach competed in two rounds of auditions this past spring leading to his being selected for the open spot in the tenor drum section. When asked what this accomplishment means to him, Zach replied 'Through discipline and sacrifice, I was able to work my way to success, and while it demanded most of my personal time and energy, I don't regret how I prioritized my practice. It's a dream come true, and I can't wait for the fall season to start!' Zach will practice with the drumline throughout the summer before becoming a full time MSU student, majoring in political science this fall. "
Congratulations, Zach! 🐾

🌟🐾We would like to share a few more pictures of last day fun here at APS! Our 3rd graders enjoyed parading through the school halls to celebrate the end of their final year at Hillcrest! We hope they cherish the memories they've made and have an awesome time at Pine Ave. Elementary in the fall!🐾🌟

🐾Great work this year, Panthers! Now onto high school!🐾

Today is an early release and the last day of school!
Wishing all of our students, staff, and families a wonderful summer break. Enjoy your summer!

🌟🐾We had 5th Grade Trimester Awards today too! Each student received a different special award that represents their personality, interests and behavior! Our students' differences are what make them uniquely themselves and AWESOME. Our trimester awards do a wonderful job reminding us of that! Great work this year, 5th graders, now it's off to middle school! 🐾🌟

☀️Check out all the Field Day FUN our Pine Ave. Elementary Panthers had on Tuesday!☀️Our students are enjoying all our awesome APS traditions & activities before heading into summer vacation! 🐾

🐾We are proud to share some photos of their creation along with the dedication to Luce Road Early Childhood Learning Center:
Dedication to Luce Road:
"From the 2025–2026 Kindergarten Class
We dedicate this woven popsicle stick art project to Luce Road. Each of us painted our own popsicle stick using colors, shapes and designs that made it special. When our sticks were woven together, they became one big piece of art.
Our artwork shows that we are all different and unique, but when we come together, we make each other better, brighter and more colorful. We are proud to leave this gift as a reminder of the joy, creativity and Panther pride we shared as Kindergarteners at Luce Road." (In Collaboration with Art Teacher Mrs. Lisa K- Schmidt)
